If you have the full version of Adobe Acrobat (not just the "reader"), simply go to File > Save As > Reduced Size PDF and resave the file as a reduced size. This will generally reduce it to about 30% of the original size (depending on how many images, etc. are in the original)

You would need a PDF converter to reduce the quality of the scanned document so that the size will be smaller.

If you intend to email it, try compressing it with WinRAR, WinZIP, 7-zip, P-zip or any archiving software. How big is the file anyway?

For Documents Already Scanned

First, check the document's file size. You can view the document's file size in one of two ways.

View Using My Computer or Windows Explorer

1. Open My Computer or Windows Explorer.

2. Select the directory and the folder containing the files whose size you wish to view. Click on View, Details.

3. You will see the file size for all files under the header Size.

View Using Adobe Acrobat

1. Open the file in Acrobat. Click on File, Document Info, General.

2. The file size displays in bytes.

When you find yourself on the page once you have scanned it,there can be a tab up at the top that say options or some thing like that.Pull it down and it will can help you diminish the scale. Then save it then ship it's the way i know how to do it.

size of scanned pdf depend on :

- scan resolution. higher resolution = higher file size

- content. more graphics = more size

- amount of pages

note :

* but if your scan software method is scan document to bitmap image and then saved as pdf, you only can try on resolution setting

* you can try pdf size reduced software. for online just try : http://smallpdf.com/
