I still like Xp. If you get Vista with its latest updates and service packs - its better than the original one that came out. If you're looking to upgrade stick with Xp for now - a new operating system will replace Vista soon and should be ready next year.

XP by a long shot. Vista is OK but right now there is just too much that doen't work with it, and it has a serious performance penalty compared to xp and this dont help gaming and such things. Also, Vista doesn't offer anything, bar Media Center, that makes it worth anywhere near what Microsoft are asking for it. Jeeze I'd buy Mac OS-X Leopard for 85 quid sooner than I'd cough up 300quid for Vist Ultimate. Better to get a copy off a pal who works with computers or something, and try it out first, although really, Microsft are talkin about Windows 7 as early as a 2009 release, shows even that the company the created Vista aren't so sure of it themselves, what does that tell you about Microsoft? They are acceptimg thier failure to deliver a solid follow up to a fairly good OS that took em 5 years to develop, and where's the evidence to show for thier hard work? I sure cant see much. Well for Vista to run at its best you need a fairly good system, dual core, at least a gig of RAM, so it firstly depends on what type of computer you have. Then there are different versions of XP and Vista of course. I use Vista Ultimate one one machine and XP pro on this one. Vista is ok but I personally prefer XP, I've used it quite awhile and have it tweaked perfectly. If you want your system to look pretty and it's up to running it go with Vista. If not, XP is just fine.

Personally, I would chose Vista.

People complain about it and say XP is better but when XP first came out, people did the same thing. They said Windows 98 was better than XP.

BUT WE SHOWED 'EM!!!!

I have Vista on my laptop and I think it's pretty awesome anyway.

my answer: XP!!!!

VISTA has better security and all, sure... But for most people, they find VISTA very complicated and also it got too much "show off" stuff its actually slows down the main application.

My friend still calls me up everyday to fix security issues and other simple settings on his VISTA.

Vista is just for looks. Its got too many complications in it. Go for it if u think you r good at handling computers

hi lisa abode windows XP grew to become into launched in 2002 in 2 flavors: abode version and expert version. Microsoft has introduced that the help for this OS will quickly be discontinued now, meaning that the consumers of this OS won't get any new updates and patches. No different version got here close to to Win ninety 8. The hardware standards for Win XP are quite what could be expected of such an OS that does what it incredibly does. abode windows Vista, on the different hand, is a extra helpful-finding abode windows. Its standards are sky-severe, and require a lot of people to alter their device configuration thoroughly. characteristic-sensible, i do no longer discover something so specific in it. a lot of recent units are supported, yet this could be the case with any abode windows, offered adequate INF scripts/drivers are dowloaded and put in into it. different than for the extra helpful lively seems (that would additionally be acheived in Win XP by using new subjects, types, colour-schemes, icons, and shells, besides), abode windows Vista is an pointless load on the device components, that would extra helpful be used for classes. whilst an working device is upgraded, many of the classes written for it additionally submit to substantial modiication. because Win Vista is incompatible with older hardware and classes, it isn't any longer an working device of selection for many people; we would merely no longer be able to enhance each thing. to boot, although if MS might stop added patches to Win XP, the XP, with all the updates printed so a strategies, is particularly an indispensible OS, and that i do no longer see any might desire to enhance to Win Vista quite yet. we would incredibly anticipate a extra progressed (and much less hungry) OS. whilst Vista grew to become into launched, there have been a lot expectancies out of it. those talks are slowly coming to an end. individuals are understanding the truths. it is why they p.c. to downgrade from Vista to XP.

Vista, I've had no problems with either and most reasons why people don't like Vista is from their ignorance. Such as it uses more RAM because it intelligently pre-loads programs based on a schedule the it learns from you, with no intervention needed.
