EXCEL QUESTION, Please!?

I will try to explain the situation. I have this standard form that I created in the excel 2003. I only bring this form up when I need to use it. When I am done I have to exit out without saving it so that when next time I need it, it will have the blank form or same format. Is there a way that I could just refresh the file without exiting out so I can reuse the file again during the time i am using it? Is takes a lot of time exit and bring up the case.

The reason is because sometimes I have to change the format during of use and when I am done I don't save the new format I added. I just want to keep the old format. Can you please tell me what I need to do of the simple way. Thanks in advance!

You'd get most of your time back by just closing the workbook but leaving Excel open instead of fully exiting Excel. To close the workbook without exiting the program, either use Ctrl+W or click the little x button in the top left that is under the red X that closes the whole program.

Unless you have a very complicated workbook with many embedded formulas, reopening the workbook should be relatively fast.

If you really wanted to put a lot of work into it, you could write a macro to reset all your values to default. You'd have to be able to predict all the future changes that might need resetting, though. I wouldn't recommend that approach.

As a side note, if you want a little bit more insurance to make it harder to accidentally save over your standard form, you could save it as a template. That won't do anything for the speed problem, though.

Not sure if any of that helps you yet.

Honestly, what you want to do is have a template.

The best way to do this, and lots of companies do this, is to make the template and save it. When you edit it with information, save it with a different name. Like an expense sheet my company uses.

All the fields are blank, but the needed ones...name, date, expense. We fill it out with our information, and save as the date. But in the end the template is still named expense_template.

I think it's the best idea.

Good luck

Well, the simplest would be:

a) Holding ctrl+z (dont work if you make alot of changes; takes time)

b) Just press archive->open and re-open it, it will open in 2-3 seconds depending on computer.
