Okay so October 25, 2001 XP was released, and on January 30, 2007 Vista was released. As soon as Vista was released people started complaining about it; and was telling people to just stay with XP, even after the first Service Pack was released, people were still complaining. When Windows released XP it was really buggy and I do mean really buggy. Vista was not as buggy, although there were some mostly do to third party drivers.

Why do so many people dislike Vista so much?
Am I alone in that I like Vista?

Now I have been using Vista for about an year now, (most do to the fact that my old hardware would not run vista very will), and I like it much better then XP.

XP hands down. More reliable, program friendly and less bugs.

A tool or in this case an OS is only as good as the operator is.

- Based on having the same computer for both Operating systems.

- XP is Faster, lighter, and older than Vista. Can do the Same things as Vista, for those who know how to use a computer and an OS.

- Vista is Slower, heavier, and newer than XP. Can do the same things as XP, but has been updated for the people that don't know how to use a computer.

Do you have Two Operating Systems on your PC?

The above person is Correct, XP is better than Vista. Because like I said on top, it depends on how well the person using the OS is with the current OS. They make new a OS, to be more user friendly, and to make a profit at the same time. Because you guys don't know how to use them, and they take advantage of that fact.

Enjoy the new Windows 7.

XP for sure.

Vista may look good, but thats the only thing good about it, plus it has some additional security.

Vista is such a bad operating system. It came with my new HP Pavilion tx2000 tablet PC brought new 13 months ago.

- Vista takes over 2 hours to do a Harddrive test. On XP, it only takes 53 minutes.

- Vista takes about 1 minute to shut down. Vista takes at least 2 and a half minutes to reach the log on screen and start up applications.

- Vista is slow, especially with loading large documents, especially in Pictures.

- Vista doesn't even allow access to certain files, even if your the owner/administrator.

My computer is good. But not the operating system, which is why my computer overheats so much. Not to mention the amount of processes it runs in Task Manager. No wonder so many have complained to Microsoft about it. I myself am considering upgrading to Windows 7.

There are some good things about Vista not included in XP...

- The start menu and start search.

- On the start menu, there is a padlock button which if you use, immediately locks your computer.

- It has Windows Mail - perfect for filtering and automatically deleting unwanted spam. Windows 7 has HomeGroup or something, and XP has Outlook Express.

- Translucent windows.

XP. Always. It never had any issues with drivers as far as I remember.Vista still has issues that haven't been resolved after more than 2 years! And now you tell us "...most do to the fact that my old hardware would not run vista very will...". Is your hardware running your software now?

But it may also explain your strange observations.

Vista, But only if you have a very good computer, in which case I'd say XP. Simple as that...

About the only definitive answer comes from Microsoft itself. They are now selling Windows 7 which has absolutely no relationship to Vista. Microsoft was also forced to provide downgrade discs so that people who had updated their XP to Vista could return it to XP. Before that, the only way to return to XP was a complete re-installation.

However, there are those people who have made Vista work and are happy. So, to each his own, I guess.

My old computer gave up the ghost, and I bought a new one with vista installed. I don`t have any problem with it at all.

I just might be the only one to agree with you on Vista. lol I love it. The computer is dear to me, but the friendlier to use it is, the better my busy life is. That's all I can say!

I like this question because I bought Vista and never opened it, so I don't know how user friendly it is, or how many back doors are open on it.
