ive tryed many converters towards this process, and none seem to be very good, i aways get pixilation, bad sync rates ect,,, can someone help?

If you set the video to copy, the audio to copy and only change the container from mkv to avi you should have no quality change or loss. If the video in the mkv is encoded in a way that is not supported with the avi format then that explains your problem...and you will have to choose a different encoding of the video and convert it to use the avi container.
