E-mail problems (550 message too long) when sending out pdf attachments of one type but not another?

Question

when I send out an e-mail containing a .pdf attachment of 40 pages it goes through, but when sending out another .pdf of half that size (20 pages) it doesn't go through. It will show up in my Sent Items box, but I also get a message that says Email Error 550 Message Tool Long (R01111004)

Even though it shows up in my sent items box, I know know it didn't go through, because I put myself on the address list, and it doesn't come back to me

What's wrong?

The size of the file is probably too big. Maybe it contains too many pictures. Try to use an attachment sending service such as http://sendbigfile.net/
