Hi,

I'm planning to uninstall Java because I think I don't need it anymore. I had it installed a year ago because I wanted to play a game called Minecraft. I already quit playing Minecraft and stopped playing games months ago.

I was thinking of uninstalling Java because I think I really don't need it. Now I was wondering if I need Java to run some programs such as Adobe Photoshop CC. I frequently use Photoshop now and then as I try to improve my photo editing and graphic designing skills. I once read a user's question saying why Photoshop CS5 needed Java. Is it even needed?

Here's a list of programs I use. I don't know if one or more needs Java installed:
: Adobe Photoshop CC
: Paint.NET
: Inkscape
: Google Chrome
: Spotify
: iTunes
: VLC Media Player
: WinRAR

I also heard that Java is not safe anymore, is it true?

Thanks, I hope for an immediate answer.

No, most programs don't use it. Nothing on your list requires Java.

There are very few sites these days that rely on it, but you'll know when you see them.

Current Java is actually pretty good now about keeping itself updated and removing older updates. It is these older versions and updates that can be dangerous since exploits for them become better known.

I have had java disabled in my computer for a year or more now and have no problems. I don't play games but do administer web sites and work on tech sites.

Many programs use Java. You should just leave it in. It's a small but necessary program.
