computer fails to start after windows logo, HELP!!!!?

Question

Hi, I need some serious help...my laptop was working fine then there was a pop up for HP install, i clicked 'no' and then went on with my business. After a minute a pop up comes up and says that windows is installing "psswcore" and then i hit cancel because i did not authorize this. however it does not cancel and continues to download. my first reaction is that it is a virus and i immediately hard shutdown my computer. in hindsight this may not have been the best move (but it has worked for me in the past).



The problem now is that my computer, when i restart, displays the windows logo and then fails. I tried starting it in safe mode but the same thing happens. i tried going to the last good configuration but that too fails. I don't know what to do?

Any thoughts?

repair windows and if it doesnt repair you will have to reinstall windows. cheers

If you have your windows installation disk, insert it into your computer, and reboot. You want to boot to the disk, and run windows recovery console. From there, you can attempt to repair windows. That is pretty much your last option. If that doesn't fix it, you'll probably have to reinstall windows.
