It's been a long time since I've done a "tune up" on my PC and I don't recall what a normal amount of idle physical memory usage is for Win 7 running Aero. I went and axed a bunch of start up services and whatnot and here are my current figures with Chrome and Steam running (downloading a game update):

53 processes
1.30 GB memory
CPU about 0 to 5%

That sound like a normal amount of memory usage?

Yes, it sounds about right.

Win 7 will use more RAM if you have more of it.

For example, if you only have 2 GB, it is capable of using well under 1GB.

It seems to me you have 4 GB or more...in that case, it's normal.

Looks normal to me. I have Win 7 Ultimate x64 with 58 process from all users running. Memory usage is 1.51GB. CPU is 4-6%.

Programs loaded are Avast AV, Firefox, Malwarebytes, uTorrent, Free Download Manager.

Yep, that is pretty normal, pretty good, actually considering Steam and your browser would be using a fair chunk of that (a few hundred MB easy), compared to you I'm a total cluttermonkey, LOL
