Have you set up your account in Outlook 2003?

You should be able to import your account settings from Outlook Express into Outlook 2003.

1. In Outlook, on the File menu, click Import and Export.

2. In the Choose an action to perform box, click Import Internet Mail Account Settings, and then click Next.

3. In the Select the e-mail client to import box, click Microsoft Outlook Express or Microsoft Outlook Express or Microsoft Windows Mail, and then click Next.

4. Make sure that the name that is displayed is the name that you want to use, and then click Next.

5. Make sure that the e-mail address is correct, and then click Next.

6. Make sure that the incoming and outgoing mail servers are correct, and then click Next.

7. Make sure that the account name and password are correct, and then click Next.

NOTE: If you are using an MSN, The Microsoft Network, Post Office Protocol 3 (POP3) account, you may have to select the Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) check box.

8. Click the method that you use to connect to the Internet, and then click Next.

9. Click Finish to import your mail account settings.

First off I like 2003 better anyway...

Second make sure all your credentials and server name are correct. I'll walk you through what I think should fix this:

Open Outlook 2003

Tools -> Email Accounts

Mark "View or change existing e-mail account" and click next

highlight the account you want to work and click "Change..."

ensure that your username, email address, incoming and outgoing mail servers are all set to what they should be. If you're unsure about the server names, contact your ISP or your Network Administrator.

Ensure your logon Information is as it should be.

Mark/Unmark "Log on using Secure ..." as needed. If you're unsure, contact your ISP or your Network Administrator.

Click "Test Account Settings..." a box should pop up and all things should have a green check, if not, adjust the settings accordingly. You may need to Click "More Settings..." in order to change things such as "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication", which ports to use (most likely default), if your incoming or outgoing server requires an encrypted connection (SSL or TLS)

If that doesn't work then you may HAVE to use Express... sorry to say... but it's better to get your email then boycott a working program.

1) Go to the Control Panel, open the Mail applet. Verify your connectivity choices. You can configure for Microsoft Exchange, or Exchange cached mode, or local data files, etc., here. Make sure that you have the right configurations set up.

I'm sorry that my answer is vague, but you don't mention why you're connecting to the server. Are you using Microsoft Exchange on the server? Are you hosting some other type of POP or IMAP server? Etc.
