Well, before you uninstall anything, I would reccomend taking a closer look at what these applications do, but seeing from the names, one could think that it is oubvious. So, without further due, here is some information to clear up what these applications do:
- Windows Mobile Device Center: It is an application and a manager program that lets you snyc-up with any Windows Mobile divice-enabled systems and sync things like Email, Contacts, and etc... onto them
- NetWaiting: This is bundled with the Conexant V.92 modem chipset and driver. In NetWaiting's initial release, Call Waiting is supported for the US, Japan, China, Israel, France, Italy and Singapore. But, AOL ISPs have this automatically turned off
- Windows Live Sign-In Assistant: This is an Internet Explorer add-on that comes included with Windows Live Smart Clients, such as Windows Live Messenger and is based upon making your sign-in experience faster
- Contextant Modem / Broadcom Modem: These are applications that help run moden and dial-up connections and are generic software and drivers
- Digital Line Detect: Your PC could be infected with a "Dialer". A malicious program that tries get your modem to call premium rate phone numbers. Best make sure you don't reconnect a phone line to your PC until you get this sorted
- Dell Support Center: If you dont like the support, dont use it :) - However, you should keep it there just in case something goes wrong on the desktop and they might even be able to help with ridding of the Digital Line Detect program
- Modem Diagnostics Tool: This is available to help identify and fix network connection problems in Windows XP
Now that I have clarified what these do, here are my verdicts:
- Windows Mobile Divice Center: Uninstall (Only if you dont have a Windows Mobile handheld device)
- NetWaiting: Just in case, I would leave this alone for now. It might cause other conflicts with the modem configuration
- Windows Live Sign-In Assistant: Uninstall (Unless you want to keep it there for the convenience purposes)
- Contextant / Broadcom Modem: Again, leave this alone for it might cause other conflicts
- Digital Line Detect: Uninstall - This may be a malicious program or virus
- Dell Support Center: Keep installed (Just in case something happens)
- Modem Diagnostics Tool: Uninstall - You can always reinstall it from this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914440
Hope this helped!
