Message Window freezes, then speeds by?

After starting Yahoo Chat, messages begin displaying for short time, then window freezes for long time, then messages begin flying by too fast to read until it catches up. Then messages may display again for a short time, but soon freezes again? I am running Windows XP Pro. Did not have this problem on my laptop running Windows ME. Any suggestions to fix?

Run your Anti Virus and Spybot, sometimes these things can slow down your computer. Or it could be that you're downloading something, or maybe, your anti virus is set so that everytime you run your computer it scans. That could be the cause.

Hmmm... Interesting problem dude... Before you start the messenger see if there are any processes running in the background having large cpu usage. End those processes if possible..



Check if your firewall is setting the rules for the messenger everytime you log in... If you are not sure, manually add the messenger to your trusted applications list.



Try re-installing the messenger, it might be happening due to an internal program / registry error too...
