I am having a major problem with my Windows Media Player.

I've been using Windows Media Player 11 for several months now, at least since January of this same year. Today, I added enough songs (probably around 100 or so) onto one playlist to be about four-six hours long. I've been listening to my music for around three-four hours. Suddenly, about twenty minutes ago, I received an error message, which unfortunately I did not read in any great detail, and my music stopped playing and WMP closed itself.

I reopened WMP to find that all my songs and playlists had been removed, although the program instantly began adding my music (again). It has not restored my playlists and I have no idea what caused this malfunctioning. Help, please?

What should I do? How can I prevent this problem from occuring again? What exactly happened?

it may be caused by a virus or a spyware attached on the song, update antivirus and antisypware and do a full scan, if it detects an unwanted program DO NOT DELETE! it may have a back-up just put it in the virus vault! perform system restore or defrag your PC, it will help alot!

Well, first of all. Windows Media Player SUCKS!!! Especially Windows Media Player 11. If you must stick with Windows Media Player, downgrade to 9 or 10. Otherwise, the solution to your problem would be to get a new media player. There are tons of free ones such as Winamp or Mediamonkey. I use Mediamonkey. It has a great autotager thing that gets music information from Amazon.com.

it may just have been a software glitch, dont worry about it unless it does it again, i know you need to remake your playlists but i think wmp 11 is the best wmp so far, dont listen to people who slag them off, by all means change your media player if you want but any program can have a glitch
