The company I work for, Tokbox, provides free video conferencing (up to twenty participants). Most video conferencing is 1:1, with a number of competitors providing multi-point video chat.

Keep in mind that freezing can occur based on a number of factors (internet connection speed, software not updated on the cam or site you're using, wi-fi connections are less stable, etc.). I would recommend checking to see if your camera drivers are updated...

Other considerations:

Do you want to download software?

Are you looking for a web-based solution?

Are there any costs?

inspect Conferencecalls's Video Conferencing. they have a loose 7-day trial - supply them a try force, they are freaking cool! i'm making use of their video conferencing recommendations for a protracted time, they provides much extra centers like audio conferencing, internet assembly and so on. alongside with video conferencing!

How about Skype? You can both sign-up for free Skype accounts. Then Skype to Skype is free. The only pay services are if you're dealing with wanting to use it to dial out to normal phone numbers, or have a phone number that others can call you at. But anything that's just Skype to Skype stuff is free.

I like to use http://www.accuconference.com/ for my video conferencing because they have great service and low prices.
