Try right clicking on the PDF link (in a Firefox window) and choosing "Open in new tab". A dialogue box should come up asking if you want to save or open it. Choose "Open with" and if a drop down arrow is opposite, look to see if Reader is available. If not, click the Browse button. If you can see Adobe Reader in the list, click it and then click OK. If you can't, click the Browse... button in this dialogue box. Now navigate to where your reader is installed and select it. Click on Open. This brings you back to the box you started with. There'll be a new choice which asks if you want this done automatically each time. Tick it if you want to and then click OK. The file should open in a new tab or in Reader and this information should be added to your Applications section of Firefox. That can be found by clicking on Tools (press Alt on your keyboard first if you can't see the menu bar) and then Options and you'll see the Applications tab. You can change anything in there that you want to but obviously be sure you know what you're doing. If you change something and click Cancel, the changes WILL still be saved.

It should do it automatically. Perhaps new adobe PDF reader isn't working properly. Foxit's PDF reader is much more reliable than Adobe's. I suggest you try Foxit PDF reader. Just google it.

lol, I never thought I'd hear a PDF viewer be called 'revolutionary'

There could be reasons of why your PDF file wouldn't open. See if the file isn't corrupted, If it's downloaded, try re-downloading the file.

And if you want Firefox fox to open it, check for PDF Add ons on firefox, you should probably get one... :)

PDF Viewer (aka pdf.js) is a new revolutionary extension using web standard technologies that allows you to display within Firefox almost all PDF files found on the web without a plugin.
