Hey everyone! I'm having trouble with the video program VLC media player. I had a lot of movies on my computer and most of them had to be played with an other video program then the default one, so I'm using VLC. Everything worked perfectly until a new version was available. So I installed it as they asked me, and automaticly removed the old version. Now the movies still work, but I do not have sound anymore. I checked everywhere in the audio settings but there is no way to have any sound... did this happened to anyone before? Thx in advance

I had a problem too with the new version. It wouldn't have a picture with an mkv or something I don't remember.

Completely uninstal the new version and get the older version from old apps.com [Without the gap]

Another site is called older version, but I didn't find one program I wanted on there, so I use the first one mentioned now..

Try to complete uninstall VLC with Revo Uninstaller in advanced mode:

After that, reinstall VLC.

If that still didn't work, use a better alternative media player called KMPlayer. It's free and can play any media format that you throw at it. It has all the codecs you need built-in:

Just read the installation instructions very well so you can decline the installation of the Ask Toolbar and the Registry Mechanic that comes bundled with most free programs. You don't need those.

Videos require two separate codecs (permission to play) for sound and vision. What that means is that sometimes you can play a video and see it it but there is no sound.

VLC gets around this by allowing most videos to play.

Does this happen with all videos or just new ones?

I would uninstall VLC and then download and install it to see if that fixes the problem.
