There a several reasons why your computer is freezing/slow. First question is when was the last time you cleaned your registry. Having a corrupted registry can cause a whole host of errors and problems. Freezing up is one of them. If you have a lot of unnecessary registry keys that are hogging up your computer resources. Your computer is bound to choke. Scan your registry with a good registry cleaner. If you pull up more than 20 errors or duplication, clean your registry.

2. Depending on your RAM specs and your computer usage. This could also be a the issue. Having an insufficient amount of free space does not allow your RAM to function properly. If you are using a lot of RAM by net surfing or other activities without enough empty space your will get freezes. You don't need to buy new RAM but you should increase your free space by removing unnecessary data and perhaps increasing your virtual memory. The below link will show you how.

3. Spyware could be the culprit, so do a scan and see if your computer is infected.

4. That last area is a hardware drivers. This could be the problem if new hardware has been added to the system. So, the drivers should still be up to date. So try the first two suggestion and see if you can get your computer to stop freezing/speed up.

Check your drivers. Hope this helps.

Hello --

I don't think you can change the length of a song in Windows Movie Maker.

You can do that in Audacity ... it has a function to change the length of a song, shorter or longer!

Once you have Audacity load the song the feature is under effects change speed or change tempo.

There might be a little more work involved save/export stuff.

Good luck

You can't, BUT you can speed up videos, so you can speed up a song if you turn it into a video first.

To do this, Create a new project. Import the song. Drag it onto the Timeline or Storyboard. Then create any title. It doesn't matter what the title says. On the timeline, click and drag the end of the title so it's the same length as the song. Then go to File and Save Movie and save your movie to your computer.

Then, import the movie you just saved (the title with the song) and drag it onto the Timeline or Storyboard. Then right click on it and click on video effects. Then click on "Speed Up, Double" and click on Add. Then click on Okay. Then click on File and then Save Movie to save your sped up version of the movie to your computer.

So now you have the song sped up, but it's the audio part of a movie that displays a random title. To remove that audio from the video of the title, import the sped up movie that you just saved, go to the Timeline, and drag the sped up movie onto the AUDIO section of the Timeline instead of the video section. Then go to File and Save Movie. Since there's no video on the the timeline, it'll save the audio only as an audio file (.WMA format), and it'll be sped up since the video it came from was sped up.

A bit complicated, but it works.

Create a new project. (File --> New Project)

Import the song. (File --> Import Media Items or Click Imported media under Edit and under Tasks)

Drag it to audio in timeline.

Put something in video. Just a short one, like a credit or title.

To create a title, click Tools --> Titles and credits or click Titles and Credits under Edit under Tasks

Click File --> Publish Movie --> This Computer --> Next..... Put the filename then Next --> It it's finished, click Finish

If the video had been published, import it.

Drag it to video in timeline.

Go to Effects, click the arrow at the top

Drag the "Speed up Double" to the song.

Play it.

If you want faster than that, drag the "speed up double" again to the song.

If it's now okay, drag it to audio.

Publish it if you need to put it another project. (Click File --> Publish Movie --> This Computer)

Import it again and put it where you want.
