"Window Media Player is not installed properly and must be reinstalled" so i downloaded it and it downloads wmp 11 then says "There is a more recent verson of wmp( 11.0.6000.6344) already installed on your computer. It is not possible to use an older package(11.0.5721.5146) to install or repair your current version of the player"
I have tried to download media player 11 from different sources, have the same problem Any one know any fixes. I cant play music, dvds, install software, system restore doesnt work or registry repair software. Cant reboot my computer because not of my disks run now help please

Looks like a corrputed 'Wmp.dll' file

try the following fix

click on Start, then Run — or just Start if you're using Windows Vista — and type in "c:\windows\inf

\unregmp2.exe /UpdateWMP" and then hit the Enter key.

This will tell Windows Media Player what it needs to know and should allow the program to start working again

Hope this helps.

Download and run Ccleaner it's free it might fix the problem, It will not do any harm. It would fix it if it was XP I know nothing about Vista. You can give it a try.

http://www.ccleaner.com/

After you run it go to Add or Remove and see can you uninstall WMP 11 you can opt for a repair.

PS.As I say Vista and XP are two different operating systems it might not work but you have nothing to loose. It might be a Virus!?!?. I hope not, because that's another question.

Unload your windows Media player in safe mode and then delete any files of it on your hard drives looking under hard drive files and then programs. Then look under my documents and on your screen for any downloads of it. There can be many replicas of the download. Run a register cleaner after this and then reboot and start over in downloading windows media player or any other player you would rather use. Use the safe mode to rid yourself of other unwanted programs too. If this doesn't work then you are going to have to find a special program on the Internet with your problem in mind. The super geek squad is a good one to research your problem.

The only thing I can suggest you do is do a complete recovery on your laptop and then reinstall media player onto your laptop, cos that is probably what is causing the error msgs.

Hope this helps you out champ
