I've been playing the sims 2, and I've downloaded a lot of skins/clothes/items. However, they're all in "rar" files. I know I'm supposed to extract the items and some websites have recomemded WinRAR. The problem is, that when I try to download WinRAR it it's an exe file (which I've heard contains viruses.) So....
I was wondering are there any trustworthy sites where I can download a free trial of WinRAR, or is there an other program I can use?
Thanks for reading :)

You can safely download WinRar from Cnet http://www.download.com/WinRAR/3000-2250-10007677.html?part=dl-winrar&subj=dl&tag=button or any well known sites. They are already scan by viruses and other malwares OR you can download directly from the maker website http://www.rarlab.com/. You can also use BitZipper or use Winzip11, the newest version will work with RAR file.

first, not all .exe files are filled with viruses. a lot of exes run your computer. files from softpedia are completely safe. plus you have to pay for WinRAR, so i suggecst getting ZipGenius 6 (search on Softpedia) It's free, legal, and 100% clean, and opens a lot of compressed files like RAR and makes them too. good luck =)

Download it, Right click on the filename and scan it with your antivirus. If the scan comes back clean then open the file.
