I need to install Windows Vista service pack 1 on my computer in order to install MS Office 2010. It says on the site that i need to install it through windows update but it doesnt show up there. How do I install it? and also is that the reason i cannot install office? or do i need to do something else?

If you don't have a genuine, legitimate copy of Vista that you purchased the license for, then SP1 (and any other updates for Vista) will not ever load. "Free" illegal copies of Vista are not supported with SP's from Microsoft. Am just pointing this out in case this happens to be you. It seems odd that you would not already have SP1 loaded and so I was mentioning this as that may be the reason why you don't.

1 st of all MS office is not included in Microsoft OS's and Office 2010 works well with XP SP3 , but in your case , download vista iso disc from internet write that on a bootable DVD disc , then boot from that disc and install that OS on your PC via BIOS and you are done. then you can install office 2010.

but i think if your comp. do not support office 2010 then perhaps it will not suppoer vista. So i advice you to install XP SP3 and then install office 2010 believe me ,, i do have XP SP3 and have office 2010

If you don't see your windows update then you can download Vista SP1 from Microsoft then it is a matter of running the set up and and way you go!!!

Choose your language, click the download button, run set up and follow instructions.

Don t bother. Vista SP 1 installation problems are legendary, legion and distressing. Tons of geek sights offer multiple, complicated solutions to supposedly fix this problem. My Purdue computer science classes charted over a 1,000 alleged fixes over 2 semesters(then we stopped counting). We tried every single alleged fix and could not get the V SP 1 to install on an HP, Toshiba and other laptops. Frankly, don t bother wasting your time. Microsoft claimed to be working on it but they have never resolved the problem. Pretty strange.
