Just a simple quick answer... when you DL something for free... such as Avast, you do get what you pay for.

Others may disagree, but from my personal experience running Avast free version and another purchase AV product on two different computers, Avast let viruses through while the other product (Norton AV) blocked it. I have another computer in my house that I administer which had Avast on it as well and yes viruses got on there and messed it up. I loaded Trend Micro Internet Security 2009 on it, and the viruses were taken care of.

I would trust Mcaffee over Avast any day of the week, and twice on Sunday.

the two Norton and McAfee antivirus eat into your equipment ingredients. in case you have XP sp2 you dont desire a third occasion firewall. So decide for a mild-weight antivirus like style Micro or F-shield or Dr. Solmon's. The virus updates are fantastically efficient for all Anti Virus shoppers.

I download alot stuff had alot problems. I started using Dr. Webb antivirus . its free, but at least once a week run the program to make sure its running smooth. the first time it will probably take you up to two hours, but it is well worth it.

i would go with avg , if nothing else, it has an active firewall, a site manager to tell you what's safe, and a virus remover, they have a trial version and a full one at walmart
