I need free, easy-to-use image editing software. It needs to do two things: resize images and crop images. Basically, I need software that allows you do resize images to specific dimensions. Picasa doesn't work, for example, because it doesn't allow you to crop to exact dimensions or resize. Software like GIMP is too complicated for the user this is intended for--it needs to be as simple and straightforward as possible.

Here are two of my choices:

For a professional-like but totally free great photo editing software try GIMP. You will use it for many other editing jobs too:

http://www.gimp.org/

For a less sophisticated but still totally free program try Paint.NET. It looks and feels like the original Windows Paint but much more muscle power:

OK...For a REALLY simple editor which can resize and crop images to specific sizes try:

Here you can find a free download of GIMP: [link]

GIMP is a free program you can use for a bunch ot tasks like photo retouching, image authoring and image composition. In my opinion it is the best free photo editing software on the market. It's not as powerful as photoshop, but it's free and can be augmented with plugins and extensions. These features make it the most advanced free photo-retouching software. GIMP can be used as a simple paint program or a complex image-manipulation software (thanks also to to a very advanced scripting interface)

Gimp has expanded out of the unix/linux world. Very powerfull! Especially for the price! If you are not proficient with programs like photoshop, then you can use Jasc's Paint Shop pro for 30 days.

Try Gimp first.
