when i download music, it all goes into one folder. i usually move it to another folder and organize it the way i like it, but sometimes i forget to move it to the proper location before dragging it into iTunes. so then i make all the changes I need (adding track numbers, setting my preferences and ratings, etc) only to realize i left the music in the wrong location. is there a way to change the file location without having to remove and re-add all that music and reset all the settings the way i want it?

The easiest way to do what you're asking is simply by consolidating your iTunes library. All this means is that iTunes will take all the music in your library and copy it to a defined folder set out by you. This way you can actually delete the original song files, as they have all been moved to one whole iTunes library folder.

p.s. You can also change your settings so that every song you import will be put in this folder automatically saving you the hassle of doing it every time you add new music. Go to the link below for a detailed explanation.

Hope this helps!

Copy the whole library to the new drive then start iTunes while holding shift, it will then ask where the library is and change to using the new location you choose.
