Question:
It seems that I (by mistake) ended some "processes" with the Task Manager, HOW can I RECOVER them?

You know, the "Processes" tab in the Task Manager, I used it to end some processes and it seems I ended some processes related to the System or whatever they call it.

Now, my computer restarted many times without me doing it and its performance is much less than usual.

Is there any way to fix what I've probably ruined?

Thanks in advance! =)

Ending a process in task manager only affects tasks that are running in that session.

As soon as you restart the computer the processes will automatically restart.

What I am saying is that the problem you have is nothing to do with ending processes using task manager.

Hi (yourALIAShere), this is a verry nice question: well swet heart, Processes it represents 2 things: 1- any program or software that u open on ur pc, it will be running there: for example MSN, Yahoo Messenger, Windows Media Player, even the web pages that u open u will find it there written as (iexplorer) . 2- the second thing is the windows system Files and this is always there , its a system files (.dll) these files should be running as long as the pc is on so its verrrry important and u cant end it if u end any one of these processes , ur windows wont function well , and u might get much problems and error messages. but the normal processes which in 1 u can end it and it will end the program , like MSN u will find it there as (msngr) if u click (End Process) it will be closed. thats all about Processes on Task Manager Best wishes and gd luck, if u need any help or any more information , feel free to IM me or E-mail me. Take care

well....

let me try and i hope may it work for you

follow some steps

1. Back up the Registry by creating a restore point.

2. Go to Start > Run (or Windows-key + R), type in regedit and hit OK.

3. Navigate to the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cla sses\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Wi ndows\CurrentVersion \TrayNotify.

4. Delete the values IconStreams and PastIconsStream.

5. Open up the Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc), go to the Processes tab, select explorer.exe and click End Process.

6. Open the Applications tab and click New Task at the bottom-right of the window.

7. In the message box that pops up type in explorer.exe and hit OK.

8. Explorer.exe will reload, and the missing processes should now be back where they belong.

this should work, did for me!

take care

If you only ended the processes in Task Manager, you only killed them for the current session.

So just turn off the computer completely, then restart it. This should get those processes running again. Simple as that.

The only things usually worth force-closing like that are your browser (if you got a virus or hijacker) or another program if it freezes on you. These always have a name very similar to the name of the program, so they are easy to identify to turn off.

There are other processes, some of them in numerous copies, which are important for the running of Windows itself, so you should always leave those alone.

Explorer.exe by the way is NOT Internet Explorer (that is called iexplore.exe) but the main Windows desktop function. Never force close it.

While the machine keeps restarting itself, it is only partially rebooting (not clearing the memory) so it won't find the missing programs. You need to turn it off altogether before restarting it.

If you do a system restore you should be ok. If you are running windows vista like me just click on start and type in restore in the search and Sytem Restore should come up. Your computer should automatically set a restore point from time to time. go back like 3 or 4 days and follow the on screen instructions. Hope this helps

Restarting the computer should have fixed the problem. Try using system restore utility.
