Is there a website that has free pictures that can be used for anything?

I'm trying to come up with a cover for my book. The camera that I have is a really good camera, but I live nowhere near the right location to take the picture and I don't have Adobe Photoshop or any other such editing tool. Of course, I can't use pictures off of Google because they're not mine. But I was wondering: is there a website out there that has pictures that are to be freely used for this sort of thing? I'm looking for a picture of a snowy landscape so if you've got one you'd like to share with me, then be my guest.

I'm looking for something visually similar to the picture below. Thanks!

Royalty Free images are not the same as free images. You can still have to pay for an image that is royalty free, just don't have to pay royalties.



Try searching for free stock images, there are probably hundreds of sites that offer such things. You'll need to specifically read the licensing agreement for any image you want to use, if its available to use it will have licensing info. It may be very different depending on the site or even the image, for example you may find that you can use an image for an ebook but not a print book. But you can probably find something you like without too much difficulty.

I'm going to guess that you are not going to sell more than 250,000 books, so their standard license that comes at that price is all you need.
