WHen i tell mm to create a dvd from my edited video it tells me the video length is too long for a standard dvd, it advises me to use a dual layer dvd for burning, AND it asks me to continue anyway, i cliked yes, and i assume it would load up dvd maker, but it does not. There is no error message or anything. I tried loading up dvd maker myself and trying, but it says dvd maker is already open and tells me to close it and retry. Any ideas?

The REAL problem is your video IS way too long! Do NOT "continue anyway".

Edit your video's length down until it can fit on a single layer DVD (< 4.7 GB). Remove all unnecessary effects, transitions, similar or redundant clips, audio, etc. Then, WMM can burn it to DVD for 'sharing' with others, or to pass it to DVD Maker, which is completely different, as explained in WMM's Help files.

Or, you can use the DVD burning app in Windows Media Center (<< this is a hint!). Just close it, and re-open it there.

In my opinion the best software to burn CDs/DVDs is Ashampoo Burning. It's a free software and it can be downloaded here: http://j.mp/1sW2j62

If you want to make a DVD that will work on a common DVD player, you definitely need a burning software. Copying the movie as is directly to a new DVD it's not the right way to do it (If you do so your DVD player will not be able to play the video/movie properly).

The most reliable DVD burning program I used it Ashampoo Burning. It works with all types of videos and music (both with DVDs and CDs). Ashampoo is a very modern and professional software (you can also edit videos and create DVD menus)

If you are using windows live movie maker to make movies, then want to burn the maked movies to DVD. You should:

At first you should save the movies as wmv file on windows live movie maker, not wlmp project file, then you should use the right software to burn the wmv files to video DVD, there is an easy way and the better choice, you can try RZ DVD Creator, it can create/burn standard video DVD from any movies, it can burn long movies into one DVD, it can burn multi movies into one DVD, it can auto fit the size, it can easy add professional dynamic DVD menu, it can convert and burn any movies to DVD(DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-R DL, DVD+R DL, etc), such as avi to DVD, wmv to DVD, etc.

You can yahoo or google search and download "RZ DVD Creator", work well on my computer, easy to use, good quality, most functionality, hope it can help you.

Please note: the windows live movie maker wmv movies use vc-1(wmv3) video codec, so you should upgrade your windows media player to windows media palyer 11, win7 and vista built-in windows media player 11.

If you plan on taking the project - and not a video - to school on the USB, all the clips and music you plan to use has to be put onto the Flashdrive before you begin the project. The project only links to clips and music so if they are on your computer when you create the project, the links are going to be to your computer and not to the flashdrive.
