Your best option that will not get you into licensing problems with Microsoft (MS) is to download the free OpenOffice.org and use their Draw tool, which will fit your requirement as a Visio equivalent.
MS Visio is not a free tool, and your school should also be aware of this when assigning projects that require some sort of drawing tool.

A full copy of Visio is $1,000 - http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/visio/visio-2010-buy-page-FX101836377.aspx - no school in the world is going to tell you you need that software for anything unless they help pay for it.
If you need to make some sort of diagram then shapes in Word from the Insert menu will probably do.
The free trial version of SmartDraw - http://www.smartdraw.com/ - is good
Even better is the free Dia - http://projects.gnome.org/dia/

Visio is licensed, you cannot get a free copy you need to buy the license. Look in Open Source software to find similar

Ya, R-I-G-H-T! there is not any position interior the international that you won't be able to deliver mail to. Disks are mailed daily. Dad could be in a civilized sufficient position that he change into able to purchase the disk. Sounds lame to me!
