Programs not responding?

The programs on my computer randomly stop responding. This happens almost every time I go to my taskbar to start a new program. The taskbar itself will stop responding which will, of course, say Windows Explorer is not responding. This happens when I go to answer a message on skype: it will stop responding. I click on my google chrome to pause the video I was watching: stops responding. What is the solution?

When's the last time the PC was reset to factory condition? Most people thing PCs never need to be "tuned up" but I think it's a good practice to nuke it from orbit and start fresh from time-to-time. Copy all your important files to an external hard drive then follow the manufacturer's instructions to reset the PC.

Run Windows update after that and download all the updates. Then install all your favorite programs and copy over important files from the external hard drive.

When I see these "program stopped responding" on a user computer it is 99.9% of the time because they have not installed their windows updates to get the patches installed to fix the windows software bugs. So if you have a pirate copy of Windows, that is the problem. If you have a legitimate copy of Windows, when was the last time you installed your windows updates? If you are behind, get them installed and you will see these annoying "stopped responding" errors go away.
