Iv just started to download films using MP3ROCKET ,the downloads are going great till I transfer them on to disk which has been DVD+R120 min 4.7gb rw. My problem is that the films are playing on my windows xp media player fine ,no problems but try playing them on anything else like a dvd player or even my sons laptop which is vista acer media player and I have problems like only getting sound or even just not loading at all.Iv heard that you sometimes need to download some kind of codec or somthing to that effect, could someone point me in the write direction ,.maybe a site I could do this from ,or at least some helpfull information .Thanks for reading ,any help at all would be much apreciated.

you have a codec problem on your sons laptop.....download k-lite

if you want to play downloaded movies on a regular player.....buy one that is divx and xvid compatible....you can get them for next to nothing and they'll play anything you throw at them

Lynn, you probably need to *convert* the films from whatever format they're in when you download them with mp3rocket to DVD format.

I use a converter called ConvetXToDVD these days. It's not free though (although I must admit I didn't pay for my copy.. you can also get this program via filesharing networks!)

You can find the ConvertXToDVD website here: http://www.vso-software.fr/products/convert_x_to_dvd/

However, I did just spot a free conversion program that looks interesting. If you fancy giving it a shot, it might be just what you need.

It's called "Quick Media Converter". Here's the web page: http://www.cocoonsoftware.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1&Itemid=30

But the best place to download it would be here: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/qmconverter.html

I wouldn't suggest the free one if I didn't have a feeling it may suit your needs, so give it a bash and let me know how you get on ;). If you're willing to pay however, ConvertXToDVD won't disappoint.

Cheers,

Download & Install Free DivX Player for PC.

Alternativly I bought an external Packard Bell Hard drive which doubles up as a stand alone DivX player (Plays most AVI & MPG Files) Also plays MP3's on the TV & View your pictures on the TV with this also. Cuts out tedious burning to disk & well worth the money.

It sounds like you need to convert you files to dvd. I would suggest the advice of GigaJosh. Convertxtodvd is absolutely idot proof. (thats why I use it)
