try "youconvertit" http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=youconvertit&fr=yfp-t-501&toggle=1&cop=mss&ei=UTF-8 , it converts many formats, and no need to install anything. and it's free. if you wish, it can send files only with no conversion.

A bitmap(bmp) maps each and every pixel of a picture, at the same time as a jpg is a compressed format which does no longer map each and every component and for this reason loses a brilliant variety of colour and high quality. you could no longer exchange the reality that's altered, even a picture initially saved as a jpg will do the same, that's the full component of the format.

a .bmp file is actually a bigger and more detail file than a .jpg so you shouldn't lose any clarity at all?

Going from a .bmp file to a .jpg file though, you will lose detail a little bit, but the .jpg file takes such such less space.

You want an image editing software like Office photo manager/ ACD see/ Photo Shop. Or you can download any others from web. Search on web like image converter.

If you have any programs like that, find and command like convert/ export function. You can go through it.
