Is there any way to make open office calc merge multiple cells in a selection, but so that it only merges the cells in the selection that are next to eachother, i.e. arranged horizontally. I would like to have one wide, merged column, but multiple separate rows. in the end.

ya,

- merge a row of cells together (i merged A1, B1 and C1)

- then i copied my merged cell

- then i selected A2 to C2 and down a bunch of rows

- then i clicked copy

and it worked.

i almost never recommend merged cells...they just mess everything up

Microsoft already supplies Excel 3 thoughts to attempt this - textual content-to-Columns (textual content Import Wizard) contained in the files Tab...this permits you to split cellular content - formula CONCATENATE() will merge cellular content.....and LEFT() accurate() and MID() will split cellular content - VBA helps customers to parse a cellular you observe human beings requesting this a lot because..... a sensible way for a million customers needs would no longer artwork for yet another customers spreadsheet. i imagine Oo3 has textual content to columns outfitted in...i might want to could doublecheck....yet early variations didnt have it.
