Question:
How do I edit "sound recorder" files?
?

I own a Lenovo Thinkpad Edge 14, included on it in the accessories section was a program called "Sound Recorder" I used it to record lectures. I would like to go in and get out some of the more important/ favorite segments and edit out the rest. However when saved Sound Recorder files go into the documents section, and when I try and put them into Windows Movie Maker it will not recognize the Sound Recorder files. Does anyone have any suggestions or any programs I could download that would allow me to edit these files?

Digital Media Converter will convert your WMA files to WAV format so you can edit them in Audacity. Download here:

Sound recorder doesn't have any editing features. The best way to go about this would be to download a free audio editing program like Audacity.

Sound recorder saves audio files in a .wma format (Windows media audio). Windows movie maker does not recognize this format and will not play the files.

If Audacity seems to complicated for you(Its not that bad but its far more sophisticated than the super simple sound recorder), you can google "open source audio editor", and find several free programs that you may like. Open source software is completely free, it's just a matter of downloading and installing them.

Yes, i think this is audio decode issue, maybe your prism video converter can't decode your mov file audio data, so the converted files still no sound, you need to use a better software, like i am using RZ Video Converter, it can easy convert any videos or audios between different formats, such as convert mov to avi, wmv, etc, for windows movie maker, i think it is the better that convert to wmv, you can use RZ Video Converter to convert your mov files to right wmv files, then you can import the right wmv files into your windows movie maker. You can yahoo or google search and download RZ Video Converter, work well on my computer ,easy to use, good quality, hope it can help you.

I believe sound Recorder uses the wma format, this editor is free and should do the job you request. It is lite and simple to use.
