Updating your video card software may help. The best way to do this is to check the support site for your video card's manufacturer.

Also, you may want to check and see if there are any updates available for The Sims 2 software itself as they may add additional video support.

I have a friend whose computer display regularly froze with the Sims / Sims2 and we ended up having to install a new video card, but you may have better luck.

Or just reboot and go to this place to test your machine. I test machines here all the time:

http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest

Expansion packs will be more demanding than the original game so test the highest level game you expect to play.

The results of the test will tell you exactly what would be best to upgrade. Less confusing than reading the min requirments if those words are mostly meaningless to user in question.

Unfortunately most machines are not gaming machines. If the CPU is considerably slow (under 1 gig), it's likely that a new motherboard will be needed in able to be handle the level of power that the other upgrades will require.

Yea...what Jon said. Did you look at the game box for MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS? More RAM would help....better video card. What background programs do you have running that may be hogging up precious RAM and processor time. Things like that. Good luck.

Update video drivers, do all windows updates, otherwise, time for a new video card, or time to reinstall windows

mutually as u set up the latest drivers are u downloading the BETA ones? cos they're now no longer as much as date thoroughly they might many situations contain gadget defects i decide to propose u come for the era of a prior replace for the image the only earlier ur cutting-part one and if it nonetheless would not touch the producer or unplug the cardboard and place it decrease back
