Hello
I have a problem with Windows XP install,I had Windows 7 for some time but the computer was working very slow so I decided to downgrade back to XP
So, I insert de cd in the CDROM unit I restart the computer, delete the partitions, format them, then windows is copying the install files in 2 minutes, after that it will automatically restart saying that the installation will continue. After the restart everything is ok until it gos to the screen where it says "Press any key to boot from CD" and if I dont press any key the computer stays on that screen forever, nothing happens.
Any Ideas what is the problem ?
Bios
1st is CDROM
2nd is HDD
3rd is Flash drive
sorry for bad english

Make sure the computer is set for CD ROM as primary boot. Other then that it could be anything from a scratch on the disk to an old bad CD. I recommend Windows 7 Basic since Windows Xp goes out of service April 2014.

Heres the step on how you can install xp on pre installed win 7.

First.

On the Setup of your bios.

Choose the ATA instead of AHCI on the SATA configuration..

then now apply the changes. then insert your cd on the cd rom. make sure you have chosen the cd as your first boot device.Hope that this works

Take the CD out after it reboots and see what it does.

If it boots to windows, great. If not, then the install went wrong.

Check BIOS to see if it sees the HDD in the boot list.

Change the priority by putting the HDD infront of CD booting.

Try it again.

Sounds like some sort of hardware issue, MB or RAM. I've had similar problems in the past two different times on two different boxes, wound up being RAM both times. But it is hard to tell and hard to find out because there will be no notifications about this your issue what ever it may wind up being.
