if your talking about a free email then go with hotmail or yahoo mail as free email, i like my hotmail better than yahoo mail though. no need to go with the other nonmainstream email providers. i would say go with the ones that are more widely used and known. as for a email client program outlook works and its got a version built into windows already so no need to bother with other programs. but when it comes to these types of things preference is gonna be the way to go so try them all and see which you think suits you best and what fulfill your needs. that my good sir, will be the best email program!

Having used Yahoo, Thunderbird, Outlook Express and Outlook, I've got to say, Outlook is the best, at least for my purposes. It's got the most of what I want from an email program. That needs to be your determining factor - getting the most out of the program for your needs.

The perfect free email program does not exist. Choosing a good email program can be difficult because there allot outhere. It all depend of the feature you need.

However, a good email program, should not be difficult to set-up and the email program should have a good spam filter.

My favorite is Mozilla Thunderbird, it is fully feature, secure and have a RDD feed reader. Mozilla is beautiful and easy to handle. Mozilla filters the junk mail too.

Here some free other one that I think is better than outlook :

1. Mozilla thunderbird of course

2. Opera

3. Mulberry

You should go to PC magazine, they offer review and comparison of software.

I have to say DITTO to yahoo. I live more than one place and have different internet providers. Yahoo is consistent no matter where I go. U end up with other emails (thru your internet provider) but I dont use those...This way those on your address list dont have to worry about different email addresses...In my opinion..it is the easist one to work with.

If you are looking for a webbasd mail I would highly recommend gmail http://www.gmail.com

If you are looking for a pay client program I would recommend Outlook http://office.microsoft.com

If you are looking for a Free client program I would recommend outlook Express (Should already be on your computer START --> Programs --> Outlook Express )

If you are looking for a Client that you can carry around on a USB Flash Drive : http://www.portableapps.com and download THUNDERBIRD Portable

I prefer Thunderbird so I can "stick it" to the "man."
