I have windows XP on C drive. I tried to install Window 7 as a new copy in H Drive. During installation process i got an error message like ' memory could not be written'. Any way i withdrawn my attempt to install win7. But the problem is that at start up a Dual Boot menu is appearing and the deafualt item is 'Windows Setup'. So at each startup i have to select 'Earlier Versions of Windows' to get my XP.
I tried to edit boot.ini file. its all Ok there. It looks like this
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
What should i do to avoid the dual boot menu

Thanks in advance.. and your help will never ever forget

There is a documented procedure to remove the win7 dual boot, that may work. Take a look at the instructions in the link below.

Print the instructions and follow carefully, good luck.

abode windows XP sixty 4 bit calls for a bigger quantity of RAM. i presently put in XP from vista sixty 4 bit besides, yet except your laptop has sixteen GB of RAM or extra, you need to use the 32 Bit XP.

The changes are made from msconfig
