When i log on, none of my startup programs are loading and when i run a program or open a file, i get the message "Access denied. Make sure you have the permission to access this file" or "Cannot open *.*. Make sure you have the permission to access this file" Please help. System restore doesn't help. Is it something to do with comodo firewall?

make sure you are logged in as admin or have admin rights on your computer.

The default file system for XP is NTFS. This file system has access and ownership permissions associated with all files and folders on the drive.

Unless you have signed on as a member of the Administrators group, only the user who owns a file can access it unless the owner has chosen to make the file or folder more widely available.

It sounds like you have signed on as a different, non administrator user.

hi

well i don't think that it is anything to do with ur comodo firewall but 4 safety u can 4mat ur PC n then install a lattest n good version of firewall

but make sure that u access that file as an administrator user if u r not doing that then surely it has nothing to do with ur comodo firewall

then looged on as admininstrator user then run that file

well i think it will work

How about you try logging in suing the safe mode, and then try executing the programs. it might give you some idea. If nothing helps try re-installing the OS or if laptop and you have a restore to factory settings options use that. it may be that your XP license file was corrupt?

Although I doubt the problem is comodo firewall it couldn't hurt to disable it until you get this problem fixed. Secondly, never use system restore, it almost always makes things worse. Now, on to your problem. It's most likely caused by your anti virus program (norton is known to cause this problem especially after an uninstall). Uninstall whatever you're using for anti virus software for now. you'll download a good free one later. Now you need to download and run a program called "dial-a-fix" found here: http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/Dial-a-fix.shtml

This tool will automatically clean up the permissions on your system and prompt you to restart... upon rebooting your system should work properly again, I recomend installing AVG free for anti virus found here: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/us/frt/0?prd=aff

it gives you excellent protection, costs you nothing, and won't screw up your system

Good luck

Are you the administrator of your computer? Or do you have a Resident shield running when you try to access the program? Or are you trying to run a program which is a crack one?

If yes, disable your Resident Shield.

Try using a right-click on the link and choosing "Save Target As..." option. I'm not sure why this is, but I believe XP will try to open the remote document to edit it...which is prohibited by the server. Hope this helps. --Russ

most probably your window xp has to or three persons configured to use it and u are trying work on somebody elses sign in code. if is your pc and u are the only one using it, then this problem should not arise at all. if what have written is not the case, please call your service engineer immediately and reload window xp with u as on thonly user.

I suggest you to get your pc scanned by an updated antivirus software as early as possible. your pc might have infected with some spywares.
