I am having trouble updating my Windows 7 Home Premimum 64-bit. I have 19 important updates and 3 optional updates to install. When I click on 'install updates', it says, 'Some updates were not installed.
Failed: 19 updates.'

I then clicked on 'Get help with this error'.

It tells me to go to 'Administravtive Tools' and then click on 'Services'. And then 'Right-Click on BACKGROUND INTELLIGENT TRANSFER SERVICE' but the only problem is that I can't find the 'Bakcground intelligent transfer service'.

It also tells me to change/restart the 'Windows Event Log'. I did change the 'Windows Event Log' and it still didn't fix my porblem.

I really need to install updates. The last time I installed an update was in February 2010!

Report this to Microsoft. They are more likely to help you than the offbeat advice you'll get here, plus the added trouble of some trolls making crude remarks.

Have you tried to run the command prompt as admin and run the following commands:

wuauclt.exe /detectnow

wuauclt.exe /updatenow

This usually helps me get some updates. You could also try to reinstall a clean version of the Windows operating system.

If yours is an original licensed one than you can get help from microsoft. Otherwise their engineers are online at help forums for troubleshooting.if still having problems try switching off firewalls till the updates are cleared.
