I now wan't to save my files: excel, word, pictures. To a CD and be able to load it back onto my computer, or a different computer.
How do I do it? Is there software i can get for free that saves it and puts it back, is there something i need to buy? I appreciate it my new laptop doesn't have a floppy drive.. I want to join the 21'st century .....

Get Nero. It comes with a program called InCD. InCD will turn a CD-RW or a DVD-RW into a huge floppy disk. Other computers will have to read UDF written disks though. Either through a driver or a reader program.

External USB floppy drives do exist if you're hooked on floppies

Better yet just a USB flash drive. These may be a pain to use on computers that only have rear USB ports.

You can burn your floppies onto a CD in a pc that has a floppy drive and then run it on your laptop.

If you don't have a floppy drive then you probably should invest in a tiny flash drive. They hold a lot of data and are really easy to use. Just plug into your USB port and it acts like another drive (removeable).

Good Luck

if you have a cdrw or dvdrw burner you can get cdrw or dvdrw media and put on there as data. rw's are rewritable so you can reuse them. or you can get a memory stick thats like a little hard drive that plugs in your usb port and you can also transfer from computer to computer.
