Is there a way rename my PC?

Can somone tell me how i can rename my PC ? Not my user name on vista

You need to submit a name change application to depol.

Nah just kidding, there's really no laws for christening your computer, you can call it what you like and change it's name whenever you like.

I have one computer I called Sheree, and there's her sister Shauna, she's a little bit slower.

My Laptop is called Dr. JoN.

I didn't see the need to give them sir names, so we just go on a first name basis.

Don’t forget you need to be logged in with an account that has Administrator rights.



Click Start Button, Right Click Computer and Click Properties.

Click Change Settings

Click Change button under Computer Name Tab

Type New Name for Computer under Computer Name Field



Once you complete this just click OK a few times. You will be prompted to reboot the computer and once your reboot is complete, your new computer name will be in effect.

Go TO MY Computer>System Tasks>View System iNFO>computer name>



system task is the bar on the left hand side of the screen to avoid any confusion.

also rename the domain name which is below when it asks you to restart open task manger and end the process it should rename the computer but it might cause system instabilty

there should be a tab called "Comupter Name"

click...my computer...scroll down...properties....scroll down..computer name, domain and workgroup settings...go to the right...change settings.....hope this helps
