I am trying to help a coworker with this. The pdf file is from a link on a healthcare website. When she clicks on it, it opens in Word with jumbled text. She did not have Adobe on her computer, so I downloaded and installed Adobe Reader(after downloading and installing Windows service pack 2), but the file is still opening in Word. I tried saving the pdf file to the desktop and then I right clicked on it and chose to open with Adobe. The Adobe program opens, but I get an error message saying that the file was sent in an email(it was NOT), and that it was not decoded, or that the file is corrupt. This is a file she uses every day and never has a problem with, nor does any other employee. So how do I get this pdf file to open in Adobe once and for all?!

RIGHT (not the usual left) mouse-click on the file you want to open and select the Open With option; that'll let you select Acrobat Reader. Note that it'll also let you set your PC to always open .pdfs with Acrobat in the future; select that option as well.

On a PC: right click on the PDF file then go "Open with" then "Choose Program", 2) find Adobe Reader program, then before you hit "ok" 3) check the box in the dialog box "always use the selected...". This makes sure your PDF will always open in Adobe Reader.

Right click on the file, in the menu, select Open with Adobe Reader

well you can go into adobe reader and change the settings. since word had made it as your default. also sounds to me like the file isn't what it seems to be. it may not be a pdf file. sounds like someone had changed the extension to the file.

you have replaced the report affiliate of a PDF report from Acrobat reader to MS observe. once you get the choice to go with a software, you're able to desire to be sure the "use this software continually" button is unchecked while you're associating the report with the appliance for a one-off. you are able to incredible this via precise-clicking a PDF report and choosing properties. on the final tab there's a factor which says "Opens with" and there's a button marked "substitute..." which you will then go with the suitable application to open it with (eg Acrobat reader).
