Got a custom pc well above minimum standards for XP and Vista, but in a jam at the moment, installed a new hard drive coz the other one broke, now trying to install xp onto it, but it gets past the very first stage of copying files needed onto the hard drive for installation, does the restart and then does the same thing again inspects the system config and hardware and asks me to where I want to install the xp files again. Basically its on a initial set up over and over again. Any ideas, asked people I know and now trying the world. lol

I will tell you. When the machine restarts, it will ask you to "Press any key to run setup..." or something similar. Do not press anything at this moment. Then the setup will continue itself. If you press any key, then you will be looping the XP setup.

try to reformat first the new drive, then choose the appropriate drive format for xp
