This is quite strange. I'm not doing anything at all of any real significance when BAM, my computer turns off and then restarts, with no warning whatsoever, nor any explanation or error message. After it's up and running, it does the exact same thing EXACTLY one hour later. I checked the event log and noticed that 3 errors occur around that time and 2 alerts.
The errors and alerts are, starting with the earliest:
Dhcp warning Event ID: 1003
Dhcp warning Event ID: 1009
DCOM error Event ID: 10005
Service Control Manager Event ID: 7000
Service Control Manager Event ID: 7023

It's also worth noting that between the Warnings and the Errors there is an informational event that mentions that the HECI driver has started successfully, and two identical information events that say that my network adapter has initiated normal operation.
I went into services.msc and changed the DCOM settings so that the computer doesn't restart automatically.
Any ideas? Ask if you need more info.

The serious error is likely the result of something that is running on your computer which is causing the OS to stop working, try closing unnecessary programs and do an AdAware scan of the computer. If that doesn't work, maybe try a different torrent client. (you might look at error checking/defragmenting your drive, but only after you have ruled out spyware or too many processes). If none of this works, then wipe the computer and start over. Edit: "Serious" is relative with computers. Your pc isn't in danger and it doesn't seem like a virus as some have assumed.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, stop the DHCP Server service on the unauthorized server:

1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Services.

2. In the Service list, click Microsoft DHCP Server, and then click Stop.

3. Click Close.
