Thats a very subjective question and it isn't really accurate either.

Windows and Mac OSX are both essentially desktop orientated operating systems, although they are also just as suitable for laptops. The two systems are very different though and which one is best for you depends on what you want from your computer.

Macs have far better build quality than most Windows systems but you pay a premium for it and they therefore often appeal to people who rate style and looks over customization options and value for money.

Macs have been traditionally popular with graphics designers for running expensive CAD software and are now becoming more universally popular due to the success of the iphone and the ipad. They have an arguably more attractive user front end [GUI] than a standard Windows interface but there are literally dozens of free software titles available for Windows that allow the whole GUI to be customized to the users personal specifications, including freeware that emulates popular Mac features like floating docks and D'Expose for viewing multiple open applications, simultaneously on the desktop.

Windows PC's still offer better value and you also have a vast amount of different hardware options and configurations from several different manufacturers, that you don't get with a Mac desktop or laptop, where these options are very limited.

Far more software exists for Windows too, particularly the freeware that is on offer is far better than those free programs available for OSX.

Macs are no good for computer gaming and few games are even supported on OSX. Whereas Windows is an excellent gaming platform and because Apple have tight controls over the hardware in their systems, Windows also gives you far more options for hardware configuration, customization and offers a better upgrade path too.

Remember that Microsoft do not make PC's. They license Windows and many different hardware manufacturers make the systems and the hardware options. Apple make all Mac systems themselves and the entire business model is therefore different.

Decide what you want from a computer and then choose the system that best suits that use.

What is subjective is Windows vs. OSX. The hardware is not subjective, nice is nice, with the exception of the Apple mouse, I never liked that, other branded mice work well on the Mac fortunately.

One thing about the Mac is the care you can sense Apple put into the machine from the moment you unbox it. If you've ever bought a cheap PC part that comes in a brown box, you'll notice a huge difference, and let me tell you, stuff that comes in a brown box are neither high quality nor are they lasting, you get what you pay for, whatever brand. So are there low end brown boxed Macs? Nope, they only sell mid range and above items. I guess Alienware PCs fall into this category as well, there are no low end Alienware PCs are there?

Its difficult to explain the kind of realization you get when you use a Mac, it'll just seem like I'm some sort of nutcase anyway ... ok its not that difficult, you realize its a quality product, that's it.

Windows is better at games though, Macs have games, but not as many as Windows, plus Macs have this weird thing with limited USB polling to 125/sec, so gamer mice are kind of useless, and usually they don't make Mac drivers only PC drivers.

Its best you step into a store that sells Apple hardware and just go in and feel up some Macs, play around with the software too, although if you are used to Windows, the software will feel strange and you'll certainly notice iffy the mouse. Not that you have to buy a Mac, just be a tourist and maybe pretend like you are interested, look at the ports, vents, feel it up, nobody cares, just act like anyone else in there.

If you favor spyware and adware, adaware, registry mechanic, bluescreens, viruses, worms, safeguard holes.. Then via all method please use Windows. If you honestly experience making use of a pc.. Then get a MAC and run OS X. It turns out to me in recent times that OS X builders are a lot more ingenious. This is why you're going to see Windows Vista comprise such a lot of of OS X's aspects into their OS. If you are not able to lead.. comply with. Being a User of Both Systems .. OS X has fairly come a ways. It does a fine activity of maintaing institution among packages. I additionally love the truth that the whole lot is scalable within the GUI. Did I point out dashboard widgets..However, OS X's uninstall characteristic and Finder are nonetheless missing. Most Windows customers hate the Mac.. However...oddly ample ..such a lot have on no account used one. Both Platforms have their possess stengths.. I endorse making use of them each. Luckily.. If you possess a Mac.. You can use them each.

I have a mac, and omg it's so beautiful, i can just close the lid and it wasted like 2% battery over night and doesn't damage the hard drive. It's quite impossible to catch viruses for a mac. The picture quality is like HD. There are so many things to says bout mac... I have a mack book pro 15" and it is so beautiful, it's going to last me for like 10 years and it;s worthy he money at around £1000 when you think about it. Mac's are clever too and if you like the iPhone then you will love a mac.. they are easy to use and once you get a mac there's no turning back! - Buy one, because in the long run it;s worth it. Mac are so much better than windows, windows is like nursery compared to mac which is like university! That's how appart mac and windows are from eacother. Oh and for mac you can get windows version of things like word and pp and edexcel. The programmes are in 'windows style' and it;s shut made for mac. I use that because the mac programmes for those, i find, are difficult to use. But mac gives you so many good apps already when you buy the computer/ laptop :) Seriously..buy one, it's the best moment into h world when you open up that gleaming white box and see it sitting in soft foam and soft plastic. You may as well open the box and its just a box full of velvet. Look after your mac though! I never put ANYTHING on top of mine.. i'm scared i might get out of bed and fred on it because it gets transferred from the bed to the floor at night! you will need an anti virus thing too for your mac, just in case :) That would be wise!

The large cult like following apple has that has made it one of the most profitable companies ever, makes its users feel that their products are better. Since the apple operating system is based off of linux and has a lot of development capital it will be a lot more stable than a windows machine however with proper care and maintenance a windows machine will outperform a mac for a fraction of the price. There is no best, just the best fit for you. Btw i use all 3 (windows, linux and a mac) it all depends on the task i have to do.

It depends what you use them for, Windows computers are more user friendly for at home entertainment purposes. More software can be downloaded on Windows more than Macs, like video games etc. It's all preference I suppose.

Because although Macs are more expensive (atleast $200 in most cases), the actual software is so well-behaved with the software that it almost never crashes.

And virus writers have a harder time messing with the O.S., compared to Windoze.

"Best" is subjective

Most people will defend their chosen platform - why would you claim to have bought the "worst"

Personally my best is Linux but whatever works for you

I dislike windows for its fragility, and vulnerability but respect the enormous range of software (and sadly malware it will run)

I dislike Apple for the 'closedness' of their systems "apples way or the highway" but accept that this makes apples more secure and reliable

I like to see diversity so the more operating systems the better providing that standards are respected and open (standards such as file formats for data exchange, web standards etc)

Because they are not as compatible(runs every software you can think of including viruses) as Windows!
