I want to change my laptops hard disk currently 80 GB with 160 GB one.
Which program should I use to migrate easily?
I used acronis migrate easy, it worked well but keeping my drive C same size as before. Actually I want to enlarge all drives.
I tried Paragon drive backup 8. It looks like it does what I wanted at first, but after many hours and many trials all the trials were a failure. The new disk dosn't even load windows.

You could use Acronis migrate to do the migration. After this use partition management software to get the full disk space allocation. You can use Acronis's own product or a free one such as those listed here http://www.thefreecountry.com/utilities/partitioneditors.shtml.

I don't know if you tried Acronis chat tech support. They are very responsive and knowledgeable. They may be able to offer you a solution that is trivial to do.

If you have a seagate or maxtor drive on either system (or even an external drive from one of those) the you can download Seagate Diskwizard or MaxBlast from Maxtor.

This will "clone" the hard drives - automatically expanding volume when required.

I think it is based on an Acronis application - so not sure it is too similar to what you have already used.

If the migration worked with Acronics and boots fine, try using DISKPART to extend the volume. Open a command prompt, Start > Run

Type Cmd, enter

Follow these commands once the command window is open (after each line press enter)

DISKPART

List vol (see what volume number your c drive is, probably 0 or 1)

select vol 1 (or whatever was your c drive)

extend

exit

Hope that helps, it might work for you.
