Question:
What Should I Use To Create A Video Slideshow?

I'm currently trying to put together a video slideshow to follow my ensemble performance in my college's music school, and am not having the best luck.

As of now I'm using Powerpoint. I am fine adding videos into it and playing them, but for some reason the transition to the next video slide is incredibly laggy, while the video files themselves work fine.

I also don't want to create this as a video file entirely. The reason being that live music can slow down or speed up, ultimately needing us to have a person at a computer ready to change slides on cue.

Should I continue to use Powerpoint? And if so, how do I get rid of the poor transitions? Or is there a better program I am unaware of?

Adam,

I see that neither answer was helpful. Try windows Movie maker for what your trying to do.

You can download it at Http://www.download.com

I think this may be a better fit. Transitions will be much better and you will also have more transition options.

MomentRus is a single flow video so that wouldn't work.

This should fix the problem. If you need someone to change the slides manually..... I have no idea besides PowerPoint

You may have to just have to use windows movie maker and time the length of what you want in the back round to the best you can..Or get a faster computer to handle the video transition smoothness.

I hope you figure it out, sounds like you know what ya want.

hmmm I'll give you two solutions 1- powerpoint : looks like your are importing AVI files you could try to convert them into WMV they work the best with powerpoint (this is a free converter here http://www.winxdvd.com/avi-to-wmv/ ) + check your codec packs .2- why not just use Windows Movie Maker and put all the clips in a single video I know you said that you don't want to create a file entirely but you can adjust the time between each video to match what you want or just open each clip and play it once you are done with it just switch to the other one .
