Question:
Can my MacBook burn DVDs?
2010-06-10 15:14:17 UTC
Hi,

I have a regular MacBook, 3 years old. I know how to burn CDs with the CD drive. Does it also burn DVDs the same way? If I download a movie, can I just drag and drop and then burn? If I have a home recording, is it a different process? I do not wish to make copies of DVDs I have purchased at a store, so do I need to download anything or purchase any hardware?

Thanks!

May not have be able to burn DVD. Mine does not. This answered my question.

You can goto the Apple in the top right corner of the screen and click on it, then click on 'About This Mac'.

In the window that apears click on the 'More Info' button.

This will bring up System Profiler.

Under 'Hardware' click on 'Disc Burning', this will tell you what type of disc's you can burn to under CD-Write and DVD-Write.

This is what mine said when I followed the directions as you see it does not say DVD Write just (Yes) that it reads DVD:

Firmware Revision: GA0J

Interconnect: ATAPI

Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipping Drive)

Cache: 2048 KB

Reads DVD: Yes

CD-Write: -R, -RW

Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw

Media: Insert media and refresh to show available burn speeds

I recommend you try TOP Video to DVD Converter I used, it can burn any video to DVD easily and fast, because it can help you convert your one or multiple video files to DVD format and burn them to one DVD movie. Plus, I can also carry them with you and watch them anytime anywhere only with a computer or a DVD player. Plus, it supports the input formats of ASF, AVI, RM, WMV, MPEG, MP4, 3GP, MKV, FLV, RMVB, etc. So I can get my favorite video in DVD conveniently.
