Unable to open CAL or CIF TREE file check the path in your .ini file error when opening Nancy Drew game help?

I keep getting this error when I try to open my Nancy Drew: Secret of the Old Clock game. I just got it and I haven't been able to get it to work even once. I've uninstalled & reinstalled per the instructions at the herinteractive website here:http://www.herinteractive.com/cms/faq/ini-path-problem-caltreeciftree-problem but to no avail. I also edited the .ini file paths to match the path to the folder, but it still doesnt work. I also changed settings so that it will run as an admin and in windows xp compatibility mode. I am running Windows 7 64 bit.

Great job. Sometimes when referring to paths in the computer, some programming may use parenthesis for functions and therefore would not recognize it as just the path itself. Ah well. Glad your Nancy Drew game is working. :)

This error happens alot with older Nancy Drew games because they were not made to play on newer computer systems. To fix it, you need to create a folder in your "My Documents" folder titled "Danger By Design" and re-download the whole game into that folder. Make sure you uninstall the old one first so that you don't accidentally start the game from the wrong saved location. :) Hope that helps!!
