I am currently running WindowsXP on my laptop. Its installed in C drive. Earlier, prior to XP's installation, i had installed Vista on another drive ( D drive). But after installation of XP, the system does not detect Vista. It only loads XP. But that doesn't matter for me coz i dnt want Vista for the time being. But now the real problem is that am unable to delete the "Windows" folder of Vista on the D: drive. When i try to delete, it says a message:... " Cannot delete bfsvc. Access is Denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not currently in use".. How do i delete that folder now? It consumes a whopping 7+ GB of HDD space. Please suggest me a solution of safely deleting that folder OTHER THAN FORMATTING THE DRIVE coz i hav lots of important stuffs in that drive.

If it's some folder that you have no idea what it is. Then, it's possible it is a spyware folder that you should try and delete immediately after computer startup. It's possible that it is a system folder with hidden files (there are some folders that are system folders that do not show any contents, even when show all hidden files is opted in). it'd be helpful, if I knew what kind of folder it was. Usually it's a spyware folder. Or, the last option. Is that your hard drive is glitched in that area.

You might need to take ownership of it.

Open the folder in Windows Explorer.

Right click, properties.

Go to the security tab.

Click advanced.

Go to the owner tab.

If the current owner is a registry key, pick your account in the bottom box, check the "subcontainers and objects" box and hit apply.
