VISIBLE line breaks in word 2007?

Hello,

I am trying to create a visible line beak in word 2007. In the old word (2003, I think) you could do:

----------------

And it would create one, long line to make a break (for example, separating a title and the main body of the text) automatically.

It doesn't seem to do this automatically in word, and I can't find any manual way of doing this.

Help???

That's the way to add a border to the paragraph. Do this:

1. Click the round Office button in the upper-left corner of the window.

2. Click the Word Options button.

3. Click Proofing.

4. Click the AutoCorrect Options button.

5. Click the AutoFormat as you type tab.

6. Check the Border Lines checkbox.

7. Click OK.

Hope that helps.

Have you tried to do a carriage return and then enter a horizontal line from the drawings menu?

It would drive me nuts when I had to edit someone's document and they had used several hyphens in this way or used several spaces instead of a tab.

Another alternative is to create the document in HTML or XHTML and use the
element to add a horizontal rule.

I often end up posting the same question on other sites
